Wanted to wait a couple months before I reviewed these to see how they stood up. They are a great quiet toy for my four year old. They have stood up to being rolled into tiny balls, twisted together and being left all over the house. As said in their description they never dry out or break. I'm very happy with these, hours of fun for her at a low price.

My 8-yr-old daughter wanted Bendaroos for Christmas, but I have a bias against "as seen on TV" purchases. So, we got the American-made Wikkis, and she's been very pleased. I will say that the toy is not as reusable as touted - anything dipped in waxed is going to pick up lint and pet fur if it touches the ground. On the other hand, she's had a lot of fun with the toy. I would recommend this as a good item to encourage creativity and keep kids busy on the run.

I got these for my daughter, who is 10. She loves sticking them to her wall, making words and designs. They do not leave any marks on the surfaces they are attached to. I think they were a good buy.

We have owned this water play table for nearly siz months, and its play value has not decreased at all. It is short enough that our 16 month old has always been able to participate comfortably, and interesting enough that it still attracts my 4 and 6 year old children as well.

The water wheel is great fun, and the children love scooping water into its reserve to make it spin. The two levels of the table give the children individual play space if two children are playing. Now that winter is approaching, I look forward to adding sand instead of water to the table. I appreciate the easy-to-open plugs built into the basin, as it makes it easy to remove water (or sand). The toy, though sturdy, is also lightweight enough for an adult to pick up and simply pour water out, if desired. Children cannot, however, easily move or turn the table over.

I bought this for my 13 year old son for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. He has been working at it in bits and pieces, and has not had any problems getting the pieces to fit correctly or understand the directions. He works on it for about a half hour or so before he goes to bed, for about 3 nights and has the head and all of the body complete. It is great to keep his hands busy while he is relaxing for bedtime. He has never had a set like this before, but has done K'nex and legos. If I find another set made by Struxx, I will will def buy another.

For all adults and engineers that responded....sometimes you need to think like a child and not an adult. As adults we tend to over think things.....this is part imaginaton, part directions.

The best $10 dollars you will spend for your child

I have a 10 month old daughter, and she has fallen in love with this toy. I bought this because of its portability and size, but the small package has delivered so much more.

The sound from the single speaker on the back of the 'Takealong Tunes' is extremely solid for such a small speaker, not tinny or hollow what so ever. The lights move in time to the music, and the whole thing is light enough for her to easily carry in one hand while she crawls around the house.

The large button-like wheel on the front is extremely easy for her to push, with just enough resistance that it isn't going off incessantly, and the colorful caterpillar handle is a natural draw to her mouth. The only minor complaint I would have is that I wish the handle were rubberized instead of hard plastic since it is in her mouth so often.

I thought I was buying a good sound & lights toy for the portability since it is not always easy to drag larger flashing, blinking, booping toys around with us, but I feel like I've gotten so much more out of this potent little package.

It sooths her when she's tired, entertains her when she's awake, and has become her best friend over the past month or so.

I would highly recommend this to any parent, another winner from Baby Einstein!

Fisher-Price Elmo Live He's Cute, Funny, and Animated!

Pros:
1. Well designed toy, but leaves more to be desired.
2. He sings, tells jokes, dances, has animated & fluid, aka lifelike, mannerisms.
3. Recognizes when he has fallen over and politely asks for help. The sneeze sequence is hilarious.
4. He does a lot of things that really personify the toy, i.e. thanks you if you help him up, goes bonkers if you squeeze his nose, laughs, yawns, asks you to dance with him, etc. To a 2-4 year-old, Elmo does indeed comes alive.

Cons:
1. The servo noise can be distracting, most of the time.
2. The red terry cloth / skin is way too thin and fragile.
3. It would be nice if Elmo is cushier and has another programing sequence when lying down so that children can go take him to bed with them.
4. It would be nice if Elmo is expandable, in the sense that you can add more programs via Bluetooth / USB / cartridge expansion. Otherwise, Elmo will become boring real fast.

Elmo Live is an innovative and engaging toy for children between 2-4 years of age. He is worth the MSRP, compared to other toys, but NOT MORE. If it wasn't for the economy, Elmo Live would likely be all over the news and the hottest toy of the holiday season.

My youngest got the earlier version of Eyclops as a gift. We have used it ALL year long, and the one complaint we had was that we couldn't use it outside or on trips.

This product has solved that problem. It takes some getting used to, but it is WONDERFUL! For those of you who remember the old "Ranger Rick" magazines with the closeups of things on the back for you to figure out, well, this lets you make your own!

My youngest is nine, but everyone in the family has spent considerable time using this!

One use for parents - SEEING those splinters so you can get them out!! It has been very useful that way for my always barefoot kids.

I was a little unsure about buying this ball pit after reading previous reviews, but I am more than happy that I did! My daughter LOVES it. It is a large ball pit, definitely not a toy for the bedroom unless the room is huge. We have ours set up in the garage and pull it out to the grass so that our daughter can play in it outside. It would be great in a big playroom as well. When we set it up, we set it up outside and have left it in the garage, so the plastic smell hasn't been overwhelming at all. We really haven't even noticed it. An air pump is highly recommended as well, we used the air pump for our air mattress and it was up in minutes.
I purchased two hundred extra balls and it is full, I think that 75 wouldn't be enough.
As far as durability, we haven't had any problems with it. It is a plastic inflatable toy, so it can obviously get holes, but we haven't had any. It seems pretty durable.
I am extremely satisfied with this product, and as I said before, my daughter loves it! I would definitely recommend.

If you are not familiar with Fisher Price's line of shake n go cars, these are great toys for preschool aged kids. my 3 yo first got some of these maybe last year and has expanded his collection to include 2 Shake N Go race tracks and numerous cars.
Basically, you shake the vehicle, put it on the ground and it races off across the floor. The batmobile also has sounds and says things like "To the Bat Cave" as it races off.
The car is durable, has endured multiple crashes with no visible signs of wear and tear, and the batteries last pretty long considering the amount of use we've given it.

The Batmobile is also compatable with the shake n go race tracks that we have.

I have been on a mission to find the best tea set for my daughter. Well, this it! Fantastic quality, it is made from recycled milk jugs, the plastic is nice and thick. A bonus is that it meets FDA regulations so you can actually drink from the set without worrying about absorbing some crazy chemicals. The lids on the teapot and sugar jar are great because they are interchangeable, they stay on when you pour the tea, and yet they are easy for little hands to take off and put on. The packaging is also nice, it is three pieces of recycled cardboard, and one rubber band holding the spoons together. So easy to open! No tape or twist ties! And we can recycle the cardboard, and the rubber band is biodegradable. Wonderful! Oh, and the best part? MADE IN THE USA!!! My daughter absolutly loves this tea set, and has been playing with it like crazy. WAAAYY better than the annoying musical tea set out there, she didn't even want to play with that one.

First of all, the husky is very cute, and my five year old boy is in love with it, and the idea of selling cute stuffed animals that have a second life in a web world for kids is brilliant. But, know what you are getting into when you by one of these.

First, you'll of course have to get the pet "adopted" on the Webkinz web site. Then, you'll have to study the online user manual for the Webkinz web site because unless your child has a certain reading ability, maybe fourth grade, they won't be able to read it all by themselves.

Then of course, you'll have to teach your child what you learned. You might be with your child for a few hours at this site while you both learn your way around. With a five year old it is going to take a while. Of course, you may view it as a bonding experience, so it's not all bad, but there is a time commitment you make when you get one of these.

Then, you'll have to cope with the technical glitches at the Webkinz web site. My ordeal was in getting my son's Webkinz husky to send messages and gifts to another Webkinz husky owned by my son's best friend of the same age. The site has a "post office" where you can send letters and "gifts" to a friend on your "friend list", but they don't tell you on the site how to get a friend on the friend list, so I had to do research out on the Internet to see how this is done.

Once we had mastered that, we found that the mailbox doesn't update with new messages unless you log out of the Webkinz site and log back in again.

Some of the navigation controls on the Webkinz site are very narrow and hard for very young children to master because they require a lot of mouse precision. You may end up sitting with your child at the computer getting them through some of the things they want to do.

Finally, your pet's life is one year on the site unless you buy more Webkinz toys or buy a renewal of your pet at the end of one year. They want to hook you into spending more money. I'm glad these cute little things don't cost too much.

So, now you have an idea of what you are committing to when you buy one of these toys. Good luck!

This product has been loads of fun for my two children, ages 4 and 2, and even for my older nieces and nephews. They LOVE the whale slide with the spouting sprinkling feature. The pool is large enough for at least 3 small children to splash around in. It has a nice large drain in the bottom and inflates easily. After about 4 uses the slide portion of the 'whale' has a hole and will not inflate. The product comes with a patch kit but we have been unable to locate the hole. I think the damage resulted from my niece and nephew (ages 12 and 9) bouncing on the slide. The pool however, is fun even without the slide. For the price, this is a great pool.

I searched and searched for a water device that would satisfy the needs of my almost one year old. This is it! Look no further..gotta trust me. The canopy really shades them, and can be taken off, if it's a bit cloudy, which is a bonus, as other toys don't have that benefit. It's lightweight and can be folded back up if necessary. It is a great floatation device, doesn't tip easily and isn't hard or time consuming to blow up--just 2 chambers. (it took me literally 2 minutes) Also, if some over zealous 5 year old swimmer comes up to you and inadvertently hangs on, the whole thing doesn't tip, just dips down a bit. (eh-hem..) The air chamber tubes aren't super thick, so don't get anything sharp or semi sharp near them, as they will pop. (that's what happened to my first one) But even with one chamber filled, it still floats, you just need to hang on and really be a good watcher. You don't have to hang on to them the whole time, which is nice too, as sometimes you're talking or get distracted..it floats nicely and isn't too easily blown away in the wind. Of course, stay in the pool with them. I like the mesh seat they sit in..it's not binding either and allows water and air to get to them..no rash or rubbing, like some of the completely plastic devices.

i remember seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark as a kid and wanting a whip just like Indiana Jones. it took them almost three decades and a new Indiana Jones movie to finally make a roleplaying toy inspired by Indy's signature weapon. i may be 24, but i still get a kick out of pressing the button on the handle and hearing the sound of the cracking whip and John Williams' theme kick in. the handle is made of rubber and plastic, the whip itself is made of soft cotton-like fabric. fun for Indy fans who ever wished they could travel the world and fight Nazis while searching for centuries-old relics. just don't forget your fedora.

Blokus Strategy Board Game

I love this game. I wish my kids liked it more -- they do like it but not as much as I do.

We had the original Blokus for several months and enjoyed it quite a bit, but you really need four players, and it was rare we had exactly that many wishing to play. You can play with fewer but only if one or more players plays two colors. The original doesn't work at all if you just leave one of the colors out.

So Travel Blokus was a great addition -- it only has two colors and therefore can be played by just two people.

So we have both -- the original for full family fun, and travel Blokus for when I can only talk ONE of my children into playing this with me.

I will add that if you are a Blokus Master you will find that you need to retune your strategies for this game. The smaller board and fewer colors requires a different approach if you want to CRUSH YOUR OPPONENT. Or, you know, be able to defend yourself against a whiz-kid 8 year old.

I bought this for my daycare kids & my 6yr daughter. They love it and I
have no regrets buying it; however I do wish that it had a plug to
drain the water. Also, I was disappointed that the water tower doesn't
snap into place in any way. It just sits there loosely and is easily

Wow..I was amazed at this product. I've seen many commercials on TV and thought this would be a gimmick...and that the 3D effects would be uneffective.

However, boy was I surprised! It works like it says it does...and my kids LOVED it. When you wear the INCLUDED 3D glasses...everything really works as described. I love it! The kids love it!

This is probably the coolest toy all year so far...I'm picking up a few more packs on Amazon as I right this review.

Overall this product is just what everyone says it is...AWESOME. Your kid will love it.

Well, so far so good! We've put up the slide on three different occasions now and I have to say...so far, it's worth every penny!!! I'm sure my opinion would change if it got a huge rip in it tomorrow, but I'm thrilled with this purchase! (Oh, and my kids love it too, lol.)

It was a tad tricky to set it up (according to the hubby) but once that got going, the rest is a breeze. Putting it away isn't nearly as hard as I pictured it to be. Yes, you have to dry it off, but letting it sit in the sun with the air on it for about 30 minutes does the trick. A couple of swipes with the towel and you're good to go. As everyone else said, don't even try to put it back in the bag it came in. I don't know what they're even thinking with that tiny thing. We use it to store the blower.

This has got to be the best purchase I've made when it comes to summer fun toys. As long as this holds up, it's going to be a great summer!!! (and hopefully a few more after that.)

Honestly, if I can get two summer's worth of fun out of this I would head straight out and buy another. When you think about it, the jumpy house type companies charge the same amount (or close to it) to rent a waterslide just for the DAY so really, there's not much to complain about even if it only makes it through one summer.

My family and I take this game to restaurants all the time. It is small and compact, with few pieces, and you can play a whole game before your food arrives. It helps teach basic math skills, though apart from the math it is basically a "luck" game. I especially enjoy the randomness of rolling pigs to get points... I mean, who ever thought up that one? Whoever they were, they did a great job on it. This game is also good for airport waits, doctor/dentist office waits, when you are bored at home... basically whenever and wherever the opportunity presents itself :)

Wow! What a big hit with my three year old twins. They can't wait to go out and play with this on a sunny day and I have never seen them play with something so long at one time. Zingo is a variant of Bingo (with a zing!). Zingo involves matching an image and word on a tile with a number of images on the zingo card. Image and vocabulary recognition, matching, memory, concentration, and social interaction are the skills promised to be improved. On most of these points Zingo is successful.

The zingo cards have images like a foot, cat, bat, and a cake in a 3 x 3 grid. The game comes with 8 double sided cards. There are two levels of play (red and green), one on each side of card. The "zinger" is a pre-loaded tile dispenser that is slid forward to reveal two tiles at a time. The first to call out the word on the desired tile gets to place that tile on their card, when the card is filled with tiles the game ends. One positive aspect of this game is that on each tile there is a picture of an object and the printed word, this helps associate the word with the picture for early readers. I also like the fact that all of the pieces fit into a fairly small box neatly and can be pretty portable. The length of time to play a full game is fairly short, 5-10 minutes. One unfavorable aspect of the game is that after you've played it a few times there is not a lot more to learn, and the amount of variation between games is low. The two game levels have more to do with how often the players are fighting to get the same pieces so this increases social difficulty rather than added game play difficulty. This is the only thing my son wanted for his seventh birthday. The caterpillar people let me schedule the delivery so that the caterpillars arrived just a couple of days before his birthday. The are all alive and growing SO fast. He is fascinated with them, and has started a butterfly bush for them. Of course these will chrysalize long before the bush is grown, but I plan to order more caterpillars once these are grown into butterflies and we can have this fun all summer. I was introduced to this game on a "girls only" weekend. I wasn't so sure at first, as Scrabble had always seemed so tedious. Bananagrams is, by far, one of the best "new" games I have played in a long time. I like the fact that you can play with any age or skill level. The words can be simple or complex depending on your vocabulary. The banana-shaped case is compact & portable. I had to order my own as soon as I got home. This game will be added to the game bag that travels in the car. A great use of otherwise wasted time while you are waiting just about anywhere. You might include a pocket dictionary in your game bag, just in case you are playing with kids or people who like to challenge your words. I think there will be a lot of Bananagrams under our 2008 Christmas tree!

I discovered at the last minute that my daughter wanted this Barbie house when she told Santa. Needless to say, we went looking for that one last thing - this house. Toys R Us had it on sale and didn't have any in stock and "had no idea where the truck was that had them on it, it was missing." I came home and immediately got on the internet and found this one. At the time it said it was the last one. It was the same price at the store and free shipping - you can't beat that.

Was even told not to expect the item until Dec 24. It shipped the next day and we had it in 3 days. We were all excited and had a VERY happy girl on Christmas morning!

We got this for my son when he was about 3 weeks old. I love that it has two positions, one of which is more reclined. He would slump over in the more upright position because he wasn't strong enough to hold himself up yet. The swing not only swings front to back, it swings side to side and my little guy loves to swing left to right. He likes the music and the mobile, although I can't see how he can even tell what he is looking at because the mobile faces out, not down towards the swing. There is a big "fisheye" style mirror that he just stares at the entire time he's in there. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because when you have the activity bar snapped on it is pretty hard to get your little one in and out of the swing. It doesn't snap on or off very easily, so you need to decide before you put your little guy in there if you want it on. If your baby has fallen asleep in the swing, thanks to the bar, there really isn't a good way to get him out without waking him. Still, this is worth the money and I would recommend it to any new parent. My son loves it so much more then his bouncy seat which was just about as expensive. It would also be nice if this had an A/C adapter so you didn't have to use batteries to power it. I would LOVE it if I could just plug it in.

Got this camera as a present for my 3-year-old daughter - she loves it! She can switch it on and off by herself and is always asking for '[her] camera' so she can snap a picture. It's also absorbed a few harsh drops without any trouble.

Caveats:
- Though it's named "Kidizoom", it does not actually have any zoom functionality. (Not that a toddler would know what to do with it!)
- Don't try to use a miniSD or microSD card with an SD adapter, and MMC cards won't work either - the camera will start up and immediately shut itself down again. A cheap plain SD card does fine - I put in a 256MB SD that I had lying around and, given that the built-in 16MB held well over 100 of her pictures, I'm sure she'll never fill it up.
- Like many low-end digitals, it doesn't work all that well if lighting is dim, like indoors at night - it needs to be held more still than a toddler can manage. There is a flash, but it will totally bleach out anything taken at toddler-interest range (1-2 ft).
- Unsurprisingly, leaving the camera tethered to the computer via USB for long periods (like overnight) will kill the batteries stone dead. As other reviews have mentioned, you will lose all the pictures stored in the camera's memory if this happens, which could result in tears - so put in that cheap SD card and set it as the default! Pictures saved there will survive a battery outage.
- Videos are very low-res, so don't expect to show them on anything bigger than the built-in screen or postage-stamp size on a computer's media player. The microphone also records at a rather low volume.

4 AA rechargeables and the above-mentioned 256MB SD card later, my daughter is very pleased with her birthday present. I suspect she'll be using this camera for years!

The cube contains six classic Mozart tunes that can be heard via 5 individual, or combination of, instruments including a concert mode which plays them all. Your child can manipulate the ensemble while the music is playing. My 18 month boy loves it and is always fiddling with the different types of musical play. Somehow (despite such a young age)he was able to intuitivly master the cube use rendering my first impression (that this toy is more appropraite for older children) wrong.

When the music is playing to his desire he spontaneously starts waving and clapping his hands. I have no proof but based on my observation I feel this toy enhances his appreciation of music as well as his ability to understand basic music composition.

My four year old loves it too so the biggest challenge is getting them to share it.

What is best about the cube is that it is designed for the toddlers. Like any child my son loves to throw the cube too, fortunately it is designed with soft rubber corners/edges so no damage is done as the cube is flung across our hardwood floor.

In short great gift to stimiulate musical interest and appreciation in the little ones.

Hard to know how to review this, but needed to say something...this is my son's favorite toy. In fact, he will play with very little else. He turns this on every morning by 6 am. He will make his way through a completely dark house to the front room to find this. The music is way too loud and it's insane. And I have to listen to it all day long. If he's awake, this thing is on. Yes, the balls shoot all over. Yes, this would be the toy the devil would make if he could make toys. But my son LOVES it. Plus, he has learned how to fix it on his own when the balls get stuck in the tube, and it taught him how to put balls in a small hole, and he'll hunt all over the house for the "right" balls to fit in this, as he has learned that using the "wrong" balls messes it up. So it has taught him a bunch. But I still hate it. We buy him other ball-type toys in hopes that he will forget this, but he ignores them all. We once switched it off and told him it was broken or dead or something, but he pounded on it and screamed to the point where we worried he would hurt himself, so we swtiched it back on. If we put it away he hunts for it non-stop. FYI, my son is 13 months and has had this since he was about 7 months, and his fixation on it only gets stronger. He sort of likes the Dino Ball Drop, but it's no ball popper.

After having finally conquered the brain-twisting original 3 X 3 cube, I was eager to try the next level. I wasn't disappointed. While many of the techniques for solving the 3 X 3 cube are transferable to the 4 x 4, the 4 X 4 cube also presents several new and interesting twists, no pun intended, that make for a much more challenging puzzle. After a few minutes at it, you'll understand why it's called the "Revenge". Solving the puzzle for the first time is a feat sure to fill you with lasting smugness. But soon you're at it again, endeavoring to master the solving techniques and best your previous time. Though slightly larger than the 3 X 3 version, the Rubik's Revenge is still quite comfortable to grip and easy to manipulate. However, my hands are on the larger side, so people with small hands may find the cube a bit difficult to handle. As far as durability goes, if this cube can withstand the hours of merciless twisting punishment of my brutish man hands, you can bet the average person will get some great mileage out of it. A fun and challenging puzzle for problem solvers of all ages!

The Settlers of Catan - New 4th Edition

Settlers is one of the greatest games ever. I think it was originally created to teach capitalism. Here are my pros/cons:

Pros:
*There is enough strategy for most gamers

*There is some luck which can make things interesting. If you want to
minimize the luck factor then use 12-sided dice

*Great interaction as you get to trade and barter with other players
(even when it is not your turn.) Kids can definitely learn the concept
of re-investing in your assets and great negotiation skills.

*You can change the boardgame set up everytime so you get a different
game everytime.

*There are 2 expansions (seafarers & Cities & Knights) & other add-ons to
change up the game to continue to make the game new and interesting.

*There are extensions that expand the game to 6 players.

*Also, there are ways to "gang up" on the leader, so there are many games
where virtualy every player will be close to winning which makes it more
fun than when one player blows out everyone every game.

Cons:
*Setting up the board and clean up can be a little tedious if you are not
organized.

*purchasing the game, its 2 expansions and each corrsponding 5-6
extension can be a bit pricey. However, my experience is that the price
is worth it because you play this game so many time compared to other
games that may be cheaper.

Overall, this game is fun and can be re-played countless times due to the variable game set up. Well worth the money.

This is a expensive toy/educational tool. It surprised me that it works as well as it does. It does take some getting used to and you have to be patient at first while learning what all it can do. I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my 14 year old son and he isn't patient enough to give it a change. After I tried everything and get the bugs worked out, he likes it. It is expensive as far as having to have the notebook paper and buying the extra software for the specific subjects, but I think the more you put into it, the more you'll get out of it. The main drawback it the notebook paper. I give it a thumbs up overall.

My son just got this from his grandparents, and I have to say I am really impressed. We've owned several of the TV learning toys (Little Leaps, FP Learn with Me DVD come to mind) and were not really impressed with those. This toy will teach him how to interact with a real computer, and lets him have fun doing it. My son is almost 3, and has been given a probable diagnosis of Aspergers syndrome. Small motor coordination is difficult for him at times - I LOVE that this toy lets him work on his mouse skills. He absolutely LOVES this computer, and I do too. The games seem to be varied enough not to get too monotonous, the way some preschool computer software can. We decided to hook this toy up to a small TV that isnt connected to cable, so that as far as he is concerned, its just a computer monitor. So far, so good!

This a great game for both children and adults. I bought it for my nephew who is 6 and the whole family played with it for hours. It is a dynamic game that helps improve coordination. It accepts up to 8 players.

There are four different games included with 4 levels. Players must follow the instructions given by ajoistick-like device and strike the targets (red, yellow, orange, green and blue) in the specified manner (sometimes colors are mentioned, sometimes numbers, or mathematical operations, for example 5-4). The player who completes the sequence in the least amount of time wins. The winner is announced at the end of each round.

My only complaint is there is no volume control and sometimes the instructions given may be hard to hear, especially if used outdoors.

The original four characters were Cloe, Sasha, Jade and Yasmin (based on CEO Isaac Larian's own daughter, Jasmin). Over the course of the lines that followed, Meygan (who "moved away" for a while and then came back), Dana, Fianna, Nevra, Tiana, Kumi, Felicia, Katia, and Kiana (who has been officially discontinued, see below) have joined the "Bratz Pack," most of whom were introduced either with playsets or as collector's edition dolls. Four sets of "Twiins", Roxxi and Phoebe, Tess and Nona, Oriana and Valentina, and Krysta and Lela, have also joined the Bratz Pack. Oriana and Valentina, were later joined by their identical triplet sister, Siernna, in a special "Triiiplets" set. Character May Lin was produced once, as a special collector doll wearing a Kimono as part of the Tokyo-A-Go-Go collection, and subsequently discontinued due to the culturally offensive nature of her name. New members of the Bratzpack to debut in 2006 include Lilee (the 2006 Sweet Heart), Leah (Spring Break), Wicked Twiins Ciara and Diona, 4th edition Twiins Krysta and Lela, and Sisterz Kiani, (not to be confused with the aforementioned and officially discontinued Kiana) and Lilani.

Ben 10 is an American animated television series created by "Man of Action" (a group consisting of Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, and Steven T. Seagle), and produced by Cartoon Network Studios. The pilot episode aired on 2005-12-27, as part of a sneak peek of Cartoon Network's new Saturday morning lineup. The second episode was shown as a special on Cartoon Network's Fridays on 2006-01-13, on which the first and second episodes were shown back-to-back. The theme song for the show was written by Andy Sturmer and sung by Moxy.^[1] The style is reminiscent of Jack Kirby, particularly the alien and technology designs and use of Kirby dots.

Plot

The show revolves around Ben Tennyson, his cousin Gwen, and his grandfather Max. During the start of their summer camping trip, Ben is nearly hit by an alien pod that fell from space and crashed next to him. When he examines it, he finds a mysterious, watch-like device, called the Omnitrix , stored inside. The device attaches to his wrist and gives him the ability to transform into a variety of alien lifeforms, each with their own unique powers, quite similar to DC's "Dial H for Hero" comic.^[2] Although Ben realizes that he has a responsibility to help others with these new abilities at his disposal, he is not above a little superpowered mischief now and then.

In the first season, the plot mainly focuses on the villain Vilgax, an evil alien warlord who wants to use the Omnitrix to conquer the galaxy. Having been injured at the start of the season, he sends various drones to get the Omnitrix until he is healed. After he was fully healed, he attempts to retrieve it himself, only to be stopped by Ben, Gwen and Max. Furthermore, it is hinted throughout the season that Max knows more about aliens than he lets on, culminating in the revelation that he and Vilgax had fought in the past.^[3]

The second season has a considerably looser plot, mostly following a "villain of the week" format. The few plot-centric episodes focus on Kevin, a super-powered teen with the power to absorb different types of energies, who meets Ben in the first season. Having inadvertently allowed Kevin to absorb the Omnitrix's ability during their first meeting, Kevin serves as an antithesis to Ben. A sociopath, Kevin eventually morphs into a hideous mish-mash of Ben's original ten forms and blames Ben for it. Vilgax also returns in the finale, having teamed up with Kevin in the hopes of succeeding where he failed originally. Again, he fails, and both he and Kevin are trapped in an alternate dimension, the Null Void. Another important event during this season is the destruction of Ghostfreak, one of Ben's original ten forms. Having escaped from the Omnitrix, he planned to possess Ben and use the power of the Omnitrix to begin his own legacy of conquest. However, he was defeated and destroyed by Ben.^[4]

The third season has a similar yet darker plot layout. Its few plot-centric episodes focus around aliens styled on traditional horror monsters that Ben acquires as new forms through their contact with the Omnitrix. Purple-colored lightning, caused by a teleportation device created by the Frankenstein-esque alien Doctor Vicktor, heralds their appearance. Vicktor, in turn, is loyal to Ghostfreak who was resurrected later in the third season. He plotted to shroud the earth in darkness with the use of a corrodium beam projected from a space station and expanded across the earth using a transmitter in New Mexico, thus allowing him to be at full power and rule over the planet. His attempt, however, was thwarted by Ben; he dies once more from direct exposure to the sun, but not before his DNA was restored to the Omnitrix.^[5]
